The Robart Victory Snaffle Bit has a conventional snaffle mouthpiece with a single joint. It is equipped with S Shanks for quick release of pressure in a balanced shank. This is a shank snaffle, designed for careful use. The nutcracker effect that works upward on a traditional snaffle becomes inverted on a shank snaffle. This means the single joint breaks and presses downward into the tongue. The horse that uses this bit should respond well to pressure on the central part of the tongue, and because of the sensitive nature of the active area, the rider should be very steady and independent in their rein aids. The bit is constructed of quality stainless steel, neutral in taste and odour for the horse. Although many riders believe the mild mouthpiece means a mild bit, the leverage this bit has makes it a bit that is for careful use only. This bit often causes head tossing and fussing in horses because of the restriction the mouthpiece has on the tongue, when the powerful effect of the leverage is used. It is further complicated with the upper shank collapsing towards the horses’Êface when pressure is applied. The S Shank is balanced and because of this, it can release quickly. It has more leverage than one angled back toward the rider, simply because of its’Êsteepness. The outside of this beautiful bit shank is dark metal, with tasteful decorations of engraved silver sections alternating with stainless steel studs.
