The Myler C Sleeve Loose Ring Bit MB 02 is a great Level 1 bit for the horse in the Myler bitting system. Level 1 bits are for horses that are in basic levels of training and working in all three gaits, on transitions and obedience. They are great bits for daily exercise, and for horses beginning to work in a frame. The MB 02 is in reference to the terrific mouthpiece of this bit. This mouthpiece is called the “Comfort Snaffle Wide Barrel”, considered by many to be more comfortable for the horse than traditional double jointed snaffles. The wide central piece, or barrel, spreads across the tongue and the shape of the Myler bits curved mouthpiece gives more room for the tongue in general. This encourages the horse to relax, as the pressure is uniform and comfortable, and he is able to swallow freely. The metal is made with a copper inlay, which features ‘ribbing’ of copper built right into the sweet iron side pieces. Sweet iron is made of black iron and copper, and it oxidizes in the mouth, releasing a sweet taste that horses love. The extra inlay of copper further encourages salivation, keeping the horse relaxed and responsive in the mouth. The C Sleeve Loose Ring MB 02 by Myler has the protective ‘sleeves’ on the ends of the mouthpiece, encapsulating the bit rings. This prevents the delicate skin of the horse’s lips from getting pinches, and offers a nice stability of the mouthpiece without being restrictive.
