The Henri de Rivel Stainless Steel Peacock Stirrups are also called ‘Safety Stirrups’, and feature an open side (the outside) that will break apart and allow the rider’s foot to be free if there is a fall, or other concern. These are great stirrups for the beginner rider, as well as any adult that has concerns about getting caught up in the stirrup in the event of a fall. The metal is a strong stainless steel, a composite of iron and chromium that is known for its resiliency, shine, and non-corrosive nature. It has a slotted base, as other stirrups do, to insert the rubber stirrup pads. The rubber stirrup pads are textured for a nice, light traction. The grooves allow moisture from the riders’ foot to dissipate, keeping the optimum traction when riding in damp conditions. The outside of the Stainless Steel Peacock Stirrups by Henri de Rivel is comprised of two parts that build the break-away system, instilling the safety feature of these stirrups. The first part is the rubber ring, which hooks at the top of the stirrup, just outside of where the stirrup leather hangs the stirrup from. The rubber ring stretches down and the second part, a leather stirrup strap, is folded over it, and then the two ends of that fasten to the notch outside the base of the stirrup. These are both replaceable. This is a great feature for all beginner riders, and children!
